A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of San Francisco.

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of San Francisco Friday morning, sending shockwaves throughout the Bay Area. The epicenter of the quake was located approximately three miles northwest of the San Francisco Zoo, with a depth of about five miles .

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 7:02 a.m. local time and was felt as far south as San Jose. While the tremor was significant, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

The earthquake’s proximity to the San Andreas Fault has raised concerns, as it is considered one of the most dangerous earthquake faults in the world due to its length and history of triggering large quakes . However, Mayor Daniel Lurie has assured residents that first responders are closely monitoring the situation.

In the aftermath of the quake, the San Francisco Muni transit system reported temporary delays on its subway system while tunnels were checked for any issues. Regular service resumed once the checks were completed.

The USGS also reported two aftershocks, one with a magnitude of 2.5 and another with a magnitude of 3.0, both centered in the same area as the initial quake .
