The Abia State Government has taken a significant step towards improving network connectivity across the state. Governor Otti has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with WIOCC, a reputable ICT and Broadband Technology Company, to deploy fiber optic infrastructure and internet connectivity across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state ยน.
This project aims to provide metropolitan optic fiber infrastructure in the three major cities of Aba, Umuahia, and Ohafia. The deployment of fiber optic infrastructure will not only improve internet connectivity but also have a positive impact on educational, health, and other institutions.
The project is expected to generate over 1,000 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, providing employment opportunities for the state’s teeming youths. Additionally, the investment will facilitate the electronic transmission of files in healthcare, civil service, education, and corporate governance, making Abia a more progressive and flourishing state.
The WIOCC Group, led by Chief Executive and Development Officer Mr. Derren Bredford, praised Governor Otti’s dynamism and innovation, which made Abia an attractive investment opportunity.
