A devastating incident has occurred in Ayihe Village, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State, where a man identified as Mr. Tator Ayihe took his own life due to a messy land deal.
According to reports, Ayihe had sold a single plot of land to three different individuals, sparking a heated dispute. The buyers had gathered at the residence of the traditional ruler of the village for an inquiry and adjudication.
Feeling overwhelmed and cornered, Ayihe excused himself from the gathering, claiming he needed to retrieve something from his house. Instead, he visited multiple shops in search of a dangerous pesticide called Sniper.
After acquiring the pesticide, Ayihe returned home, switched off his phone, and consumed the entire bottle. His lifeless body was later discovered by the chief’s emissaries, who had been sent to check on him.
Ayihe was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The incident has left the community in shock, and an investigation is underway.
The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, was unreachable for confirmation of the incident, as calls to her phone went unanswered.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of greed, deception, and the importance of seeking help when overwhelmed.
